Reverend Michael Keith Anderson

Reverend Michael Keith Anderson, called into the gospel ministry in 1984, has served faithfully for 27 years as Senior Pastor and Teacher of New Jerusalem First Missionary Baptist Church in Hollywood, Florida - “The Church Unusual”.

 

Celebrating 36 years of marriage to Sharon Smith Anderson, Pastor and First Lady Anderson are the parents of two sons - Christopher and Cameron; and proud grandparents to Caiden. Pastor Anderson is a vigilant and sober man of God who exemplifies good behavior, is always hospitable and apt to teach. He is mature in faith and entrusted with leadership responsibility as a shepherd deeply devoted to life- changing truths of the Word, constantly affirming that God cannot fail.

 

Pastor Anderson is widely known for his community involvement and is diligent in oversight of police and community relations, serving as the youngest Chaplain to-date for the City of Hollywood, Florida Police Department – serving under three police chiefs and recognized by Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) as a Domestic Violence Advocate of the Year. Pastor Anderson is also co-founder of HIS.life/HER.life Innercity Outreach of America Inc., Executive Board member of City of Hollywood Master Planning Executive Board, Founding member of Fathers Count – a multi-agency advocacy partnership with Urban League of Broward County to encourage healthy relationships between fathers and their children; integral partner with Broward County Public Schools for several community efforts including Progress in the Park Education Initiative and Pay4Grades student incentive program, Executive Board member of Collective Empowerment Group - formerly Collective Banking Group; mentoring pastor of Koinonia Fellowship of Churches and facilitator of several inter-denominational efforts, including United Churches of Liberia (Hollywood) & Surrounding Communities (co-founder), founder of “Brothers at the Barbershop” Outreach Ministry, spiritual director for Sonshine Via de Cristo, Board member of South Broward Ministerial Alliance, member of Interfaith Council of Greater Hollywood, member of Broward County Concerned Clergy, and Board member of BOLD Justice community action interfaith partnership whose efforts to enact the Workforce Investment Act is estimated to have impacted 45 contracts in Broward County worth $290 million in revenue; other initiatives include improved housing opportunities, gains in student achievement, assistance for youth offenders and care of elderly concerns.

 

Pastor Anderson believes that a church is not the Church until it is imparting the news of Christ, impacting the crises of its community and empowering the people in its care. With the “Bible in every hand and Christ in every heart,” we can empty out hell and populate Heaven. Pastor Michael K. Anderson’s messages are enlightening, entertaining and truly inspirational as
